User Reviews and Ratings Favorite sandwiches in Seoul
by Roboseyo

Jenny's Cafe used to be a hugely popular restaurant near the main gate of Hongik University; in about 2007, it closed and seemed to disappear, but to my great joy, it reappeared in two locations: Jenny's Cafe, focusing on Italian-style entrees, and Jenny's Bread, focusing on sandwiches and lunch fare. To begin with, the bread here is amazing: the ciabatta and focaccia breads are real, hearty breads, fresh and delicious - exactly the kinds of breads I used to miss while living in Korea.
The sandwiches are great; I can recommend any of the ones I've had, but my favorites are the two that feature the unique texture of artichokes. However, the menu item that's really to die for is the mushroom salad: sauteed mushrooms and mini-tomatoes, next to a green salad glazed in a sweet soy dressing, it's one of the few perfect dishes I've found in Seoul. Service is alright, and the restaurant layout includes a few corners and cubbyholes that can make it feel intimate, even if it's busy. Decor is wood paneled in rich colors, to complete the feeling of a cozy cafe back home. The sandwiches take a little while, and the prices are between 11 and 15000 per sandwich, if memory serves, but that sandwich will fill you right up, and it's worth every penny, especially if you're missing excellent sandwiches from back home. The breads are also available for take-home, reasonably priced, and absolutely worth it. Wine is available by the glass, if memory serves, as well as a few imported beers. I've written about this restaurant and its sister, Jenny's Cafe, at my blog: http://roboseyo.blogspot.com/2009/04/roboseyos-nose-never-fails.html Selecting the rating below will make the Submit and Write Review buttons appear.
