Louie is truly a fraidy cat.. He hides when anyone comes to the door. He hides for days when we have company only coming out when everyone is asleep. He's pretty much a homebody with ventures on our deck to watch the birds. He hates the car which always means a trip to the vet. He has some very unpleasant memories. Skip the next picture if you have a tender stomach.&nbs ...

My Mother's Day actually started on Saturday to my surprise. We walked into Donatelli's as we do every Saturday only to be surprised by our daughter and her family. Noah ran up to me and gave me a huge hug and this card that he made himself. Baby Ezra had just starting walking and I got to see him walk (mummy style with his hands out in front of him) all around the restaurant.&nbs ...

My bojagi project is coming along. Sometimes housework like laundry and ironing get into my quilting time. Now that the grass is also growing I mowed the lawn for the first time in over a year. Apparently, I didn't take to it as I did to driving after a year's absence. Rocketman came home and looked at the backyard with a puzzled look then went immediately to the mower.  ...

Yes, people, this is a poor, poor me post. I have been without kimchi in my house for four months now. I miss it like an old friend. My Korean kimchi refrigerator was always full of kimchi. There is something about Korean kimchi, it's just not the same as U.S. kimchi. Maybe it's the ingredients, maybe it's the prep, maybe it's Lock n Lock kimchi containers that are pe ...

Our Korean friend Hellena arrived on Sunday and we were sooo excited to show her Minnesota. Rocketman had to work on Monday but was taking the rest of the week off so we decided to head to the Outlet Mall for some major shopping. Coach Outlet was a huge hit. In Korea, Coach purses run about double what they are here in the States then add the outlet prices and you ...

I started a new bojagi project using the gorgeous silk I had bought at the hanbok shop shortly before our return to the States. It was the first time the silk had been out of the package since I bought it and now I wish I had bought more! It is gorgeous and so easy to work with. It's timeconsuming because you are cutting each section as you go and decide what you want. I am ...

My next hanji project was covering a wooden bracelet. The first thing I had to decide is what pattern I wanted to use on the bracelet. I'm slowly scanning my hanji patterns and then I just have to print off the pattern when I need it. I thought this one would be great. It's a simple pattern and wouldn't take me too long to do.I cut out the pattern using gold hanji paper.Thi ...

I finished the two sets of coasters that I started last week. It took me a lot longer than I had anticipated. At my hanji class in Korea, my teacher always had all my hanji pieces cut out for me so all I had to do was sit and glue. Now that I am home I have to cut out the pieces and it is timeconsuming. Another difference is that when I did hanji in Korea, I went to th ...

I finally got everything unpacked and put in its place. I finally had time to do some hanji. I've missed it so much. I'm starting with some coasters. I cut out paper for two and used my hanji glue to apply the paper pieces. They are drying right now. I'm going to cut out the design you see on the lower left of this picture which will go in the center of the coas ...

I spent last week with our youngest grandson, Ezra, while his older brother and folks were in Florida. Little Ez was grounded by his ENT because of fluid in his little ears. We had a great time and the week really flew by. I totally forgot what it's like to take care of little ones. We started out by taking a trip back home to visit family in Illinois. He was gr ...
