Her name is Yoo Soo-youn. She earns about 10B KRW (technically about $8M USD but who cares?) teaching English in Korea. And no, she doesn't play in the LPGA (ladies pro golf assoc.) on the side. Well, she must have a ph.D in education from Yale and a MBA from Harvard, making her the most supremely educated English teacher in Korea. Well, no again.
In fact, Ms. Yoo went to college in Korea that not many people have heard of and though she does hold a Master's degree from England, the name of the institution will be unfamiliar to 99% of us.
So, what's her secret? Well she doesn't reveal any secret spell she cites before she goes to each class to teach but here is what she said.
"I leave home around six-thirty in the morning and give TOEIC lectures from 7 a.m to 2 p.m. I teach about 1,000 people, 200 in each of the five classes. After the lectures, I head over to the Yoo soo-youn English Center, which I established, around 2.30 p.m. When I'm done there, I head back to my classes and lecture from 5 p.m. to 10 p.m. I usually handle three classes of 200 people. My day officially ends when I get home around 11 p.m. I usually go to sleep at 1.30 a.m. in the morning after I check online posts and comments related to my lectures. I haven't slept for more than five hours a day since I became an adult."
Okay, only times I sleep for five hours or less are when I party too late the night before and I am out of sick days at the office. Out of self-pity and self-righteousness, I am going to say that my sleep is more important than mere money.
